Finishing (Tones and Gradients)

In manga drafts for monochrome printing, tones (fine black dots) are used to create gray half tones. CLIP STUDIO PAINT has dedicated layers for tones and gradients. Use these to recreate elements such as shadows and the colors of the characters' clothing.

Tips: What Are Filling in Monochrome, Tone and Gradient Layers?

CLIP STUDIO PAINT has the following dedicated layers:

·[Fill] Layer: A layer created when filling in a specified color.

·[Tone] Layer: A layer created when pasting a specified tone. This is created by applying toning to a layer filled in monochrome.

·[Gradation] Layer: A layer created when drawing a gradient.
